What's That?
15 years or so ago, this jazz theme of four bars popped into my head. It was persistent... kept crowding out any other exposition. I could not get past the first four measures. I wanted desperately to get on with another phrase, but the powerful motif just wouldn't let go. Then, after many years, I realized the motif was enough... that to run wild was what it wanted. Coming back to check on a few snippets of the theme after an improvisation section is more than enough to keep things going happily along. This piece is catchy and wildly enthusiastic. Listen to if you're in the mood something that will make you happy, while twisting your ears back a bit.
