Silver Arrows

In 1978 my first job out of college was to work at Quotron Systems on Beethoven Street (no kidding!) in Santa Monica, CA. I used to go down to Dockwieler Beach during my lunch breaks and after work. The traffic getting back to Altadena was simply daunting after work so I often stayed in Santa Monica to do research for the classes I taught at UC Santa Barbara at that time. From the beach I would often watch airliners take off from the Los Angeles International Airport, just as the sun would set. That was the inspiration for this piece, which was done with the Moog Model IIIc at UC Santa Barbara and cello.
