On The Last Day
"On The Last" was composed when I was living in Frankfurt (actually Sachsenhousen), West Germany in 1982. The song was inspired by the fact that, in the event of nuclear war, I would only have a few minutes warning. In the United States I grew up with the idea I'd have at least 13 minutes to settle my affairs. Living in Germany gave me a slightly different perspective on the concept of Mutually Assured Destruction. This piece is a little experimental, in terms of the incorporation of taped sounds. Aside from that the piece was performed with early 1980's Casio PT-30 and VL-1.
